A sad day. David Bowie RIP.

There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie

And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today."

I just saw this myself RIP....

I never cared for him or his music, but, I can't deny he was a huge force and influence on the music industry.

For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do.

A true creative genius was lost today.
RIP Jareth the Goblin King.

I was greatly saddened to wake up to the news of David's passing. He was an incredibly talented and intelligent man and will be greatly missed, both in the music industry and in general.

RIP, David! You are and will continue to be a great influence in music.

KFOG here in the BA played a cut of 4 songs in a row from his performance in Dublin in 2003. Pretty awesome/bittersweet as I drove into work this morning.

I have been a big fan since the late 60's.... through all of his iterations. I enjoyed certain music of his
more than some of his other creations, but he was a force. I enjoyed Lou Reed at the saame time.
They both threw some great, socially conscious music/poetry at us. Very sad..........

I enjoyed that. So many died so young. Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers is alive and kicking. His album "Damn Near Righteous" from 2007 is one of my favorites.

"Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with Weird and Gilly,
And the spiders from Mars. He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's band"

He was always 3-5 years ahead of everyone else in music - really out on the bleeding edge - again and again. Look up David and Mick performing Dancing in the Streets. I like it even better than the original (Martha and the Vandellas), and that takes some doing. Such talent.

Rest in Peace Ziggy.

He gets his pocket money, he's well fed
Uncle Arthur past the gasworks
Uncle Arthur past the river
Uncle Arthur down the high street
Uncle Arthur follows mother

RIP David.

One troubling thing about growing older is that folks start dropping off ;-(

Bowie had A LOT of great stuff. What is your favorite? For me, I just love "Under Pressure" with Queen. David and Freddie: mega-awesome duo! "Fame" is another one.

I love the whole ziggy stardust and the s f m album. Rock and roll su----- is my fave. Chris you should find the acapella version of under pressure by Bowie and Mercury. It's on YouTube. I think someone just edited out the music and left the voice track from the original song. It is amazing and haunting.

I remember that too. One of my all time Christmas performances. Shows that things that you wouldn't expect to work together, can be wonderful.

Local artists "vandalized" a street sign for Bowie St. here in town to this...

329479
329480

The City apparently is letting the signs stay up for a week, then will take them down.

Great video with Tina Turner in the link above. Love how the fan is clinging on to Bowie with all her might!

So many good songs from Bowie and his collaborations were so memorable. Mick Jagger, Queen, Bing Crosby. I read this article about Crosby/Bowie when it first came out. The duet almost didn't happen. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/exclusive-bowie-little-drummer-boy-duet-20141124 (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/exclusive-bowie-little-drummer-boy-duet-20141124)
