I've got some walnut and ash and thought about making a few. When I used these in the 90's I remember the name being Stabila. Is this Correct? Correct me if wrong.

Does anybody remember what wood was used? I also don't remember them 1.5 as in the picture on width.

I have a couple of these. They look just like the ones offered by Rockler: Wooden Cam Clamp (http://www.rockler.com/wooden-cam-clamp), although mine open to 24". Rockler says the wood in theirs is beech.

Mine are about 31/32" wide.

Stabila is a German manufacturer of levels and other tools. You might be thinking of Gross Stabil, which made woodworking clamps, including wooden cam clamps. I believe they are not around anymore. The wooden cam clamp brands I'm familiar with are Klemmsia and Dubuque.
