Made a few aprons the other day...
328789
couple long ones....green cap to draw circles..
328790
And, some shorter ones. Needed a way to attach these to the legs...Tenons, maybe?
328791
Took a saw, or two
328792
And a few other tools..
328793
The plane is to clean up after a chisel knocks off the waste. Coping saw was used a few times as well
328795
The old Ohio Tool Co. plane seemed to work nicely. I just got a Stanley No.90....still trying to tune it up. Tomorrow's job?
328796
Maybe I can also put this new tool to use?
328797
Every shop needs one of these, right? I only have enough room for one in the Dungeon Shop...
Maybe I can chop a few mortises tomorrow? So far, all the wood used for this project came from the those 4 x 4 x 30" cut-offs.

You're sure getting your money's worth from that piece!

I like they way you're embedding photos in your posts now. They flow nicely and are easy to follow.

I just got a Stanley No.90....still trying to tune it up.

The #90 is to the best of my knowledge the only designation Stanley used for two (if you count the A & J versions, then four) very different planes. I do not find a whole lot of use for the bull nose shoulder plane. The skewed, steel cased, rabbet plane (#90) does get a bit more use.

Looks like you are off to some good use of spare wood.

did some mortise chopping today..
328864
Used a black Sharpie to keep track of which tenon went into which mortise. Used a "dot" system, as this was the first mortise, it got a single dot
328865
rather both halves of the joint did. Had a few toys at the ready
328866
Had to keep things together, so I could figure out which part went where, laid the parts off to the side
328867
They just be sitting there. Finally, got to the point where I could at least glue one long side up. Made a wedge to help the clamp a bit
328869
Now, one other thing I do on projects like this..
328870
I drive two 1" long finish nails down through the tenon, and countersink them.
Earlier, I was using this clamp to hold the leg on the bench, it had "issues" as the leg would get a bit loose
328871
So I switched to the bessey clamp. Had to resharpen a couple chisels as I went along. The ones from Aldis didn't need it. The older two did..

getting close to the finish line..
328913
Clamp to pull this mess almost square...
328914
A "smooth" plane on the top?
328915
Not exactly....Got it flat enough to add some stuff..
328916
maybe a few more days on this project?
328917
Those 1x pine boards back there? Different project, maybe later?

I have an idea for a joint hand tool project we could work on, I will let you know about it...

Guess I'd better make some room down in the shop?
328959
Rounded the corners..
328960
And mixed up the Witch's Brew to cover it up..
328961
Might just do? Letting this coat dry overnight
328962
Rub it out tomorrow, then maybe a coat of clear Poly Gloss?

Table now has a coat of Poly Gloss applied. Awaiting that to cure out, then a final rub down.

Have another table to refinish, once the shop has room....

Table is to go to the GrandBrat's Bedroom where I built a loft bed out of the rest of those 4x4s. It will be his TV Table, and will make a bedroom "set". At least that is the plan.....need some foot work first, as it rocks a bit...
329115
Final finish was a blend of BLO and Poly gloss wiped on. Not too bad, for a cheap table?

Not too bad at all...

Bought a few nail in feet pads. Seems two legs needed to be a hair longer? Table was a-rocking. Found out which of the legs needed a pad....nailed into the spot where the lathe center was. After the two diagonal legs were "padded", no more rocking! Table also has a wipe on of Poly...needs rubbed out a bit. Daughter MIGHT be hauling it to her place soon? GrandBRAT will get a TV Table for his room, that will match the Pine Loft Bed he is sleeping on now.

I really enjoy your approach to woodworking Steven. Find some wood and make something useful. Looks good serves the intended use. No better way to enjoy yourself.
