Hello everyone.

I am building a router table which I would like to connect to my dust collection system. It would have a 2 1/2" port at the fence and 4" port in the cabinet by the motor. My nearest connection point is a 6" blast gate. I already have a 6" to 5" reducer.
I am looking for a plastic 5"x4"x2 1/2" y adapter. The closest I can find online is 4"x4"x2 1/2".
I would rather not reduce the branch to 4". I have already reduced from 6" to 5".
I have tried Peachtree, Grizzley, Rockler, Penn State, Woodworkers Supply, Amazon, Grainger, etc.

Any ideas?

I wanted to do the same thing when I built mine, but never could find that type of fitting. I wound up using a short run of 4" hose to my 6" DC gate. Surprisingly, it provided plenty of dust collection at both the table and fence. Let us know if you do find a solution. I made this fitting by cutting the wye down on one end and gluing an ABS quick connect flange to it.

You could try making one (http://www.harderwoods.com/pipetemplate.php?f=dn&units=in&paper=letter&theta=45&rmd=6.125&rbd=6.125&rbt=.2&offset=0&Submit=Submit).

You don't say what kind of pipe you're using for your 6" run. But regardless, it's likely your blast gate will fit nicely inside a piece of 6" PVC Sewer & Drain pipe.

Here's a photo of something very similar from my shop: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=328729&d=1452048296 - you'd just need to reduce one of the lines from 4" to 2-1/2", which can be done with a fitting from Rockler or Woodcraft.

5" vs 4" isn't going to make enough difference to matter - if you've got enough DC to pull the 6" line, you'll have plenty of velocity when it drops to 4".

How about a 5x4x4 and then add a reducer to the 4" Y port? The reduction would not have to be smooth based on the airflow direction. I would create a 4" diameter plug with a 2 1/2" hole in it.

I have not been able to find a 5x4x4 y either.

If you can use metal, you can get a 6x5x3 reducing lateral or wye from most HVAC suppliers. The 5" and 3" are closer to the area of the 6" so you will pull more CFM and maintain a higher air speed in the 6".

6x6x4 wye at the gate with a HVAC 6 to 4 reducer. Run 4" to the fence and reduce to 2 1/2" right at the fence.

I actually run a 4" port on my router fence. I don't run collection on the fence and in the cabinet at the same time. Just move the hose to whichever one depending on the operation.

Thanks for all of the input. I decided to reduce the trunk line to 4", then use a 4x4x2 1/2 y.

Just run your small hose into the cabinet. Works great for me.
