Shipping to Canada

I am planning on shipping a cedar chest to Canada. I called a local shipping company and they said they would do it, but I needed to hire a customs broker. I asked them for recommendations and they didn't have any. Has anyone ever shipped anything like this, and what process did you go through? I have already put it in a crate. It is going from Missouri to the Canadian side of Niagra Falls. Thanks.

there are places that will receive shipments along the border in the US. If the recipient is in or near Niagara Falls it may be simpler to have them come across the border to pick up the item at one of these establishments.
