I am thinking of maybe getting some usu-nomi Japanese parers like LV sells.
How different would they be from Veritas fancy PMV11 chisels? I assume they would be a bit easier to sharpen.
How about functionality? I often use Veritas 1" as a parer, but reach is a bit limited, would it be better with the Japanese one.

Reinis,

I have those same chisels but mine are from Tools From Japan and are cheaper. As an example from Lee Vally the 24mm is $93 USD where from Stu the same 24mm push chisel is $62 USD.

Now on to the important stuff....They are great paring chisels with good balance and thin blades and they will hold a very sharp edge. In use there is a bit of difference between a long paring chisel vs. a bench chisel used for paring. Get a 24mm and try it out, I think you will like the difference.
