I have an old craftsman 30 gal. twin cylinder model #919.170210 the original motor is not on. I want to get it running again. sears no longer carry's a replacement motor & no longer has a owners manual I want to put a 2hp motor on but I don't know in which direction the pump should rotate one tech said that standing on the pulley side most pumps rotate clockwise but I want to make sure so that the oil slinger is working properly Jeff

Look at the vanes on the drive pulley. The compressor should spin so as to blow cooling air across the compressor. Hope this helps.

All of mine are clockwise (wards, dewalt, Ingersol, Puma, PC). That means nothing for yours but if I had to guess i would go clockwise.

thanks guys while cleaning the pump up I found an arrow on the flywheel that puts the rotation counter clockwise & the way the vanes on the pulley are angled that would push the air across the pump like Joe said it should - Jeff
