Hi,

Some pics below of a router table I made about four years ago. I used it a lot this weekend, warmed up my DW618!
The fence I designed and built from 8020 extrusions, the base is made entirely of scraps from a cabinet shop (saved from the landfill!) and the top I designed and made a CAD dwg and had it run on a cnc router with a benchdog acrylic plate. $175 total cost in parts and it weighs just under 200lbs
It took a long time to design, build and set-up:eek: , if I had to do it again now I'd just buy a full table from either Bench Dog/Sommerfeld/Woodhaven/Lee Valley.

But...I did learn a lot from the experience, and it sure beats watchin' TV!!:D

Thanks for looking,

Pete

Peter that is a awesome looking table. Looks rather sturdy and ready for some hard use. Beautiful.

Nice job, Peter. Where did you find that kind of extrusions for your fence?

Hey that is neat!

I used a very similar thing on my router table....

My router table saga... (http://www.ablett.jp/workshop/router_table.htm)

The stuff that I used is only one "X" and it is actually for shelving, but it works!

Cheers! :D

Peter, I found the 8020 website, but what parts, exactly, did you use? Looks like a slick setup.

Steve,

I used the 10 series extrusions..1010 / 1020 / 1030

They are the inch series 1x1 / 1x2 / 1x3...

Also available in metric 25 series (for 25mm)

You may see the 15 series, that is 1.5" and too big for this application.

I also used their 'L' brackets and corner gussets to keep things square.

Did you use the extrusions to fabricate the fence itself? It looks like a really nifty fence setup.

Steve,

The fence is all 8020 aluminum extrusions, check out this page...

http://www.8020.net/T-Slot-4.asp

If you pm me I could send you more photos, a dwg and parts list for the fence.

But like I said, a Bench Dog fence is better and less $$:D

Also, Lee Valley has a great setup...Jessem...Incra...CMT

Lastly, take a look at the post from earlier today on Router table dust collection. Awesome dust collection ideas, way beyond mine.
