Yesterday I took possession of a set of odd numbered hollows and rounds from MS Bickford.

Determined that the time had come to build a proper sticking board instead of the usual cobbled together arrangement I've been using I milled up a couple of different thickness boards and mortised slots in them to accommodate an adjustable reveal. Placing the various bits on the bench trying to get the layout correct I used a couple of holdfasts to keep things from moving while everything was marked, I was pondering what stops to use on the ends. I wanted something which could hold the work from both directions in case of grain direction change. What I needed was something like the row of dogs and the wagon wheel stop incorporated into a sticking board. Then it hit me, the bench and the holdfasts WERE the sticking board. I was so fixated on the sticking board as an appliance that I never saw the solution was much more simple and right in front of me.

What is the story with your bench.

looks to be pretty long and built atop cabinets like a shaker style bench.

whatever the case it looks a aweful lot like a bench i am just about to start making myself.

Just saw this today on making molding.

His sticking board is interesting. Especially when in the second video he takes the 45º part off to rearrange the set up.

In the second video, what kind of plow plane is he using?

It looks like a Record equivalent to the Stanley #50.

It is smaller and a less intimidating look than the Stanley #45.

The Stanley #50 in my shop is pretty much set up as a dedicated 1/4" plow plane.

The bench is 12' long and a shaker style. I will likely rework the first row of drawers as I would like more holes for the holdfasts.

Thank you. I'm a little put out with your posts on Japanese chisels however. I've gone through several sets of chisels trying to find ones I like. I currently have some Lie Nielsens which I'm not in love with, some cheap Japanese ones which I don't much care for and now I'm off looking at expensive chisels I had previously never hear of....

I've seen that before. His style of doing things with a plow plane has some serious limitations. His rabbet plane approach is a better approach.
