Not that anyone needs another roubo build pictorial...but, if interested, the next 8 posts highlights the last 3 months of this build. I left off (sept 3 post) with the top done, and the redwood stock I was planning to use for legs deciding to split after rough dimensioning.
(apologize for the multi-oriented photos...but if you click on them, they should correct)

Pretty much followed Schwarz's build notes from his first book.

Legs were glued up, dimensioned and trued, cut to length (got to use my old Stanley Miter rig), the bottoms flattened, and the corners chamfered.

Next the rails. You don't need to see 4 glue ups, etc. Here's the front rail...with a maple facing for the deadman runner. Glued up, dimensioned and trued, then chamfered for the deadman.

A bit of hardware for the vise, bolt on the crotchet, and call it done. It came out at 6'x2' (as you might notice, about as long as I could go for this basement space), 34" tall. It's pine, with hard maple surrounding the top, the front and back of the front legs, the deadman rail, and the chop.

Learned a lot, walked away a number of times from frustration, got very familiar with a lot of hand tools, consumed a few advil. All in all, a great experience and a joy to use vs the skill workmate!

Phil, it came out beautifully, gorgeous work! All the pain and suffering was worth it, I'm sure.

Man, I hope you're brimming with satisfaction. Excellent, excellent bench! And all done on a Workmate? Whew.
