Good morning.

I finished the wooden part of Kaliah's Highchair from American Furniture Design.

I bought straps but I have no idea how to attach them. Is there a snap I can use or something else? Apparently these straps were made to be inserted into a slot, but I don’t want to make slots in the flat surfaces.

Blessings and Peace,

Couple ways that occur to me off the top of my head:
Something like these snaps (http://www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Nickel-Plated-1263-02/dp/B00O1GTVMW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1449165278) could work. Instead of using the rivet you can also use a wood screw to attach the male part directly to the chair.
Or perhaps something like these side-release buckles (http://www.amazon.com/Paracord-Planet%C2%AE-Contoured-Release-Buckle/dp/B00BL6RK0A/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1449165416&sr=1-1&keywords=buckles) would be better (more child-resistant).

Either way, you can use nylon webbing and wood screws with finishing washers to attach the ends of the straps that shouldn't move. :)

I buy them from Rockler. Built first for grand daughter who is now 22 years old. Built seven more since then, for a total of eight.
