I'm making white oak boxes approximately 6"X12"X6". After the box is assembled and sanded I use a band saw to cut off the top to become the lid. However when I attach the hinges the lid doesn't always fit flush around all four sides even though when properly aligned it fits a perfect fit. Are there any tips or tricks or jigs I can make to fit the hinges so that the lid is a perfect fit?

Might help if you described the type of hinges you are using.

Spacers if needed between the hinge leaves, and super glue the second side of the hinges in place. Open, and VIX bit the remaining holes. I like the little "control" bottles of Locktite, either liquid or gel depending on the application. Read the instructions on the back of the package to see how to "open" the little bottles. http://www.lowes.com/pd_45484-69-1563313_0__?productId=3448640&store_code=556&cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-Paint-_-Glue-_-3448640:LOCTITE&CAWELAID=&kpid=3448640&CAWELAID=1023485835&k_clickID=55afae3d-6eda-4943-a15b-b36b3d2bfa39 You squeeze the things on the side to let out the smallest of droplets.
