This weekend my boys made their 3'x5' mobile garden. I cut the pieces and they put it together. They took turns drilling the 1/2" holes for the dowels to hold the pine 4x4's together, screwing the bottom on and drilling drain holes. They planted 2 tomato plants, 1 pepper (Jalopeno) plant, 1 cucumber plant and 12 corn plants. Told em' that they planted 12 in the space for four but, who knows? With a lot of sun, luck and fertilizer, ...?

Hope they grow,

Joe

Looks like J.J. and Johnny are better at this hobby than you are. Say hey to 'em for me.

I was hoping you would post some pics of this...What a neat idea. Please keep us posted as to the growing results...especially of the corn and tomatoes....they need alot of dirt so I will be interested in seeing how this turns out :)

How heavy is it? can they move it around?

"How heavy is it? can they move it around?"

It took 10 25lb. bags of SCOTTS garden soil to fill it. They are using the sidewalk to move it around so it rolls pretty easily. Now they just need some sun to move it into. Supposed to rain till Monday. :(

Joe,

Looks like the boys had a ball! I hope they get alot of enjoyment and some tasty veggies as well from their mobile garden. It's great when kids can have fun while they are learning.

I love doing projects with my kids too. Of course we are kind of limited right now because they are 3 and 2.
