Sanding belts have a definite shelf life.

I made the mistake of buying some extra so I'd have them on hand. A year or so later when I tried to use them, the glue gave out and they were useless.

That's good to know - But it must depend on the brand & quality. I bought a bunch of surplus belts about 10 years ago. Super-high quality industrial stuff, but they were already old then. They still work fine today.

Yup, depends on the belts….and the user! I have belts for my wide belt that are a several years old still working fine. Some probably a good 10 years old!
