Doing a little work in the shop cleaning things up and sharpening some drill bits and such.

One of my odder looking countersinks had the name Wheeler and a patent date of April 12, 1870 stamped into the tang.

Looked it up and low and behold:

Hi Jim,

Interesting countersink. I like to see the Stanley Rule and Level Co. trade marks on old tools, and especially like the lever caps on some of the older Bed Rock planes.

I think Stanley must have made a lot of different tools back then......kind of like the "ACME" on all the things that Wiley Coyote used to try to catch the Roadrunner.

Took the camera out to the shop for some pictures. Then the iPod decided to day was the day to be a PITA.

So here is a belated image on this:

I do not see a Stanley stamp. It does have a G B Wheeler stamp with a faint G.

Hi Jim,

The design looks like it might be a good one. Do you use it much, and how well does it seem to work?

It works fine when I do use it. It is a bit of a challenge to sharpen.
