OK....I'm trying to find a router bit for cutting slots in solid stock that will allow 1/4" plywood to fit nicely into the cut groove. Does anybody know if anyone makes a slot cutter for plywood? I already and straight bits for dado's in plywood....but I'm having no luck at finding a slot cutter. Any hints or tips on this?

Dennis, since all the plywood seems to be both undersized, AND also varies in thickness from batch to batch and brand to brand, I found it difficult to find any one size that would make a consistant fit, Soooooo.........even though they're a little pricey, I bought one of the adjustable slot cutters from AMANA, when they came out. They make two size ranges, and I got the smaller one, mainly to use for 1/4" ply, and I have been really happy with it, as it cuts great, AND you can adjust it to get the EXACT FIT you want for the plywood. I think the planned retail price was to be $149.95 but they were still running the introductory price of $99.95 the last ad I saw. They are built well and should last a long time, (through several sharpenings), and if they ever do wear out, I think you can get replacement blades pretty reasonable.

Note: They adjust similar to the way the Freud adjustable Dado does), real quick and simple.

Freud makes an adjustable T&G set that might be just the ticket.

I have the Freud tongue and groove set and it works well for 1/4 ply. It is one bit that you move the bearing and cutters depending on the cut youare making. I have used just the groove cutter and it has workd well for 1/4 ply.

Heres link to southest tool. Links are for arbor and cutter.
There is as assembly in there somewhere. These links show the seperate pieces.

7/32" is the correct size for most 1/4" plywood.

Same here. The set works well, but I rarelly use the tongue side. Adjustable is the only real solution to deal with variations in thickness IMO. My "ply" dado bits are pretty much useless to actually make dados for ply. I do use them a lot, just not for fitting ply.
