Hey guys, I'd really like to learn some more about lasers in general. Especially the different types, semiconductor, fiber so on. Any books, articles, so on that are must reads?

Thank you!

Sam G... here's his main page:
http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/lasersam.htm

There's not nearly as much "fresh" info as I would like, but it's useful for a lot of background material.

I ran across this not long ago, interesting reading on early engraving lasers:
https://www.engraversjournal.com/article.php/2244/index.html
- it's "part 5", not sure where to find 1 thru 4 but a fun read anyway-

This page somewhat explains engraving lasers in general., power spot density, focusing, etc...

Great Part 5.... I have a ALT 2010 Laser minus the tube in my storage... Was giving it away to a friend next week that is into making 3D printers...

You could also go way back to page 1, post 1 of this forum and read for the next year. There's a wealth of info you will never find in any book.
