I have a piece of sassafras that has a very appealing hole in it created by a knot that has rotted away. I would like to fill the hole with some kind of clear substance that will be very clear and not yellow over time. I have attached a picture. Any ideas?

Use a quality epoxy such as west system or system three.these can be tinted also.

Yup. West Systems epoxy. Use the slow catalyst. In a volume as large as that, the fast catalyst may self-heat to cure too fast -- before the bubbles have a chance to get out.
