The finish on a local dance floor needs a little help. I am told by the owner that the floor is Maple and the finish is polyurethane. He would like to bring back the shine. In the past when the floor lost it's shine they would sand off the old finish and apply new coats of polyurethane.(3 or 4 coats)
Other than the shine this floor is in great shape. There are no cracks or chipping.
Any suggestions on how to restore this finish?
The area in question is about 2000 sq.ft.

Thanks
Keith

..would be buff it. I'm not sure that can be done. It's not like buffing a car. If the floor is in really good shape, what would be wrong with screening the surface and applying a single coat of urethane? I wouldn't strip it just for a high gloss finish.

Phil,
I am not sure what you mean by "screening".
I agree with you, stripping it would not be my first choice.
By the way I don't think they have used any type of wax on this floor.
Thanks

They use a screen on a buffing machine that fine cuts into the urethane before they finish coat.
