Using a router plane looks like a great way to shave tenons and keep them co-planar to the surface of the wood and centered. (I saw the Paul Sellers video.) The new version of the LV large router plane looks to have an updated depth stop that is pretty similar to the LN, and the big differences look like the open vs closed mouth, price (LN<LV), cutter sizes (LN<LV), and the fact that the LN comes with the fence. I understand that the closed mouth gives better support, but for my immediate use, it doesn't seem like the cutter selection, fence, or mouth style would make a difference. What do you think?

My reason for choosing LV is because of the selection of blades available.

In reality, my router plane is a Sargent #62 in which the LV blades work fine.

What jim said. The LV has more blades, and (in my view) better ergonomics. I like the LV medium router plane the best. Its a great, versatile piece of kit.

I have both and honestly my LV gets used 100% of the time. Why? As these other gents above mentioned, blade versatility.
