This is a shallow walnut bowl that had a rather plain looking sapwood as the main body. I decided to use some dye to spice it up a bit. Blue on the interior which I kept within the cambium layer under the bark. Yellow mixed with black on the exterior. I included a close-up of the bark layers that I found appealing. My wife calls this a pensive, referring to a scene in the Harry Potter movies where he looks into a basin of liquid and sees into the past. Finished with lacquer and buffed, 11.5 inches across by 3 inches high.
