A random person walked up to a our club's demonstration booth during a festival a while back. He had just cut down a cherry tree, he was burning most of it but offered to let any of us dig through his pile. I found a couple of salvageable pieces. The tree had been dead on the stump for a while, the wood was already turning red. I turned this bowl over a year ago, oiled it up, but had a fit of a time getting the finish right. Then we moved and it got packed up. I just recently dug it out, sanded it down and refinished with lacquer. The shape was hard to photograph so I turned it upside down, photographed it, and flipped the photo. My photography skills (and cheapo tent) leave a lot to be desired.

I tend to be drawn to imperfect specimens, this piece had a smaller branch coming out the side that had rotted and left a hole in the rim. the worm holes were filled with coffee grinds and CA glue.
