Meet Zeus! Zeus is an Australian Shepherd. His color is red tri (tricolor) and has no merle patterning.

This is my daughter and Zeus. He is 4 weeks at this point...a tiny lil' guy!

Here he is at 5 weeks. He will be at the breeder's place until 12 weeks. While I wish we could pick him up sooner, we just can't get our schedule in order to do that.

I too have an Australian Shepherd named Talley (short for Talladega). Great dogs. She just turned 5 and weighs in at 44 lbs. That is big enough for a dog. I know you will enjoy him. They are smart and pretty easy to train. Make sure you teach him manners right away and you will have a companion for life. Mine chases the bears away and enjoys every moment of doing that.

Our oldest son has had three Australian shepherds and loves them!

Nice looking pup Chris!

Great looking pup, I have a 5 year old austrian shephard. Have you had one before?

My is nuts, completly high energy, and seemingly has 9 lives 3 or 4 of which he has used... My advice, dont leave him alone for a while lest he get bored....

I've house broke 5 or 6 puppies and this Aussie has been the most onerous....

He seems to already be trying to woo the ladies. Looks like a happy pup.

Nice dog. Our new pooch just hit 7 weeks, she's a chihuahua and just big enough to sit in your hand.

So cute. They are awesome dogs. Love those eye. I hope the family is prepared for and enjoys the energy level. My lab puppy keeps me on my toes and she's no where close.

Cute pooch! Aussies are great dogs. They are smart as heck. You've got to keep them busy or they "find things to do" for themselves - like chewing on furniture. Your daughter can train him to do a lot of cool things. I once met a kid who'd trained his to catch frisbees.

Enjoy!

Based on the blue eyes, it is a pretty good bet that your dog is heterozygous for Merle (carrying one merle allele, and one normal allele). Was either parent merle?

Thanks, Everyone! This will be our family's first dog. I haven't had a dog in quite a while...back to my teen years with a black lab/irish setter mix. It should be fun!

Yes, his eyes are the most striking blue that I think I've ever seen. From what I recall, neither parent had merle patterning but Dad had blue eyes.

Looks like Zeus is going to be your daughter's dog, with perhaps a side gig as a shop dog. Perhaps. Those have got to be some of the best blue eyes I've ever seen on a dog.

My daughter plans to be the trainer and has been reading everything she can find on the topic. I'm sure I'll chip in and my wife, a cat person, will just let us do everything. BTW, she is getting a cat out of the deal so we'll raise 'em up together and hopefully they'll get along.
