Don't know if anyone's interested in 'history" of wood working etc?.

I happened to find a copy of my great grandfathers carpentry / joinery trade certificate, issued in Dundee Scotland in 1888.

Hand water colored.
Lots of "freemasonry symbolism' within the certificate also, (Twin Pillars, square and compasses).
Bob was my fathers grandfather. My Father was also a carpenter joiner (& master builder) who passed his trade certificate in 1952. He was the 938th registered builder in this state since white settlement in 1829...there are more than 20,000 now in 2015!. I worked with My father for 20 years in partnership. He forgot more about wood working than I know!.

Absolutely +1. In keeping with the spirit of the piece, I'd get out some hollows/rounds and make a lovely hand-stuck molding, then use the molding to frame the certificate. Would be a great way to "connect" with your great grandfather!
