I'm engraving a grayscale image onto leather, engraving from bottom to top.

When the image is done, the laser burns the top edge of the image's bounding box...

My ULS did it a few times, and now the GCC just did this...

The line WAS light colored like the etch, but I inked it to darken it. It did, but it didn't look right, and the dull smudgy spot on the right is
what happened when I tried to remove the ink with DNA... Anyway, the line is clearly visible, and it's quite deep...

Why is that line even engraving? Two different images on two different machines...

Is it my image? I think it's a gif but not sure. And I think the ULS did this when engraving from top to bottom too, it would lase the bottom line...

The bounding box is only visible in wireframe...

So I resaved the graphic as a corel paint image in CYMK just for fun, and -- so far -- it hasn't engraved any boundary lines...

I'd still like to know the cause...

sounds like an image issue not a machine issue, no other reason i can think of why the laser would stay active on that stroke.
