I am making a cutting board and want to finish some strips for it.
I can use a drum sander if the planer is not a bright idea.

Good question, I would like to know too as I have never tried it.

I have no problem with this. Things get touchy when material is taller than it is wide, square is OK. If in doubt, make a carrier:

323407 . 323406 . 323408

I agree Glen. I have resawn strips of .750 wide boards and planed them to .125 for edge banding without any issues. Like you said, it is square so it can not roll.

No problem if it exceeds the minimum length for your planer.

I plane 6mm strips often............Regards, Rod.

Yes, easy peasy.

Why not glue them as they are and flatten them after glue up? If you remove any material now, you may have to remove material from the piece next to it if the glue up is not perfect.

Steve

It is and end grain board, so one dimension has to be flat and correctly sized before glue up because those are the sides you glue on. The other dimension can be done afterwards.

All the time. Just as Rod says, make sure they are long enough.

I've planed 3/8 x 3/4 with no problems. Below 3/8 I have to drum sand down.
