Best sanding machine?

I am getting back into woodworking as a hobby I've always loved. My main projects will be furniture ( tables, desks, display cases, etc. ) and some cabinetry. I have been looking at drum sanders but I have only used hand power sanders ( oscillating, random orbital, stroke ) and have no idea what is the most useful type of machine. Please bear in mind I am not looking to spent a lot of money. Thanks in advance for any tips.

The Jet 16-32 is a very nice drum sander. I bought mine use off Graigs list. They are around $1300 new.

I should add that I want to use it for rough as well as finish sanding.

That's merely determined by sandpaper grit.

Supermax 19-38 is a popular model. I'm going to list my on CL as I'm upgrading to a widebelt.
