Can anyone tell me what saw this might be from these pictures? I cannot find anything that looks like this other than the No. 80 but it has a different handle. Maybe a custom job by the owner?

It has the eagle in the middle so it must be from the 1800s. That's about all I could gather.

It looks like it has been sharpened a lot. That is about all I can tell.

Is there any text on the medallion?

Can't tell. All I have are these pictures to go off of.

It could also be a warranted superior saw now that I am looking at it more closely.

Reminds me of an older D-23. but I'm not an expert.

Looks like a No.16, they had the medallion in the lower position and were relieved in the blade as well.

It's probably not Disston, although it could be a second line saw. The Medalion is probably "warranted superior". It's similar to a 16 or 23 style but the medallion doesn't match the earlier which would have been 1880's

It's a Disston # 16 (1880 to 1928) saw with a whole bunch of plate missing...... The medallion is interesting, it's about 20-30 years older than that saw.

Upon more searching, I came across this picture of a warranted superior medallion. It looks identical to me. The telling feature is the last letter is lined up perfectly with the one in this picture.

I am certain this is the medallion. Now to figure what type of saw it is...

My first reaction is that the saw was a No. 16. I do not think that is the case. The No. 16's that I have seen have a nib, I have seen only 2. The saw in the picture has no nib.

Looking at the saws on Disstonian Institute there are only two saws with that bolt configuration. The No. 16 and the No. 76 Centennial. It isn't the No. 76, The handle isn't carved and the saw was a skew back, which your saw isn't.

I am afraid I can only muddy the water. I am not an expert, by any means. I could be missing something. Just stating my observations. I hope you get your answer.

Is there any way to date Warranted Superior medallions? There isn't much on them aside from that they are all re-branded saws.
