Most of the parts were turned (or partially turned) so I am posting this here. I made this for a niece who just had a baby; I had offered to make a rocking horse but she asked for a rocking chair instead. Have made chairs once before and several stools but this is my first rocking chair. It might have been strong enough without them but I added screws into the tenons and did not try to hide the screws. The walnut came from a "free" tree that had lots of metal in it (ruined multiple band-mill blades).

Now that it is done and seems comfortable; I may take some measurements and make a drawing in case I want to make another. Finished with Wipe On Poly.

You are a man of many talents. I am sure that it will be enjoyed now and later. Looks like it will stand up to some heavy use.

My hat is off to anyone who can make multiple identical parts or mirror image parts and make it look this good!

Great chair. The seat looks comfy. I just took a rocking chair to my daughter who is expecting in February. It was a rocking chair that my mom was rocked in when she was an infant, and then she rocked my sisters and me. Maybe yours will be handed down for generations, too.

Dennis, what did you make the rockers out of? In the photo the one on the lefthand side of the rocker, makes it look as if you used plywood. Did you?

The rockers are laminated from walnut, there is some sapwood showing on some of the layers.
