I have acquired a very tiny Stanley with no marking except on the blade. I guess you'd call it a Finger plane because it's only 1 1/4 X 3 1/2 inches with a boat shapped sole. I found it's perfect for doing the stock work on the flintlock's. There is a tiny hole and a boss on the rear of the sole & I'm wondering if this is for some kind of handle like I've seen on L-N minatures or is it just a place to hang the plane up?

Does it look like the #101 on this link?

yeah - that's it exactly except upon reading about it I'm thinking it's a #100. Jappaned frog (pre WW2) but no handle - just the small hole in the casting. I suppose that raised boss was where a threaded hole was placed to screw on the squirrl handle. Now I know what it's suppose to look like - thanks

Jerry: I have both of these and the handles are part of the casting? It sounds as though your handle may have been broken off and a hole was provided for a replacement. David Turner

Nope - no evidence of damage at all - as cast - still has the japanning on it.

It appears to be a #101 that someone has drilled a hang hole in.

Having looked at the 101 on the above link to Stanley I would agree now that I see it setting out clearly. Many thanks gentlemen.
