Anybody know the size of the screw that secures the bottom bearing? My set of indexes doesn't go that small-1/2" shank Freud (they uniform, right?)
As always, Thanks

M3 X 6 but I use M3 X 3 because they are available and they work,

Hey Fred,

Where do you get them? I found some, @ a tool place, but they have $25 minimum order? Can't find a Freud accessory kit, etc that has them.

My hardware guy can't get them. BORG doesn't carry them.

Whiteside Router Bits BB701 Accessory Kit, 36-Piece
http://www.amazon.com/Whiteside-Router-Bits-BB701-Accessory/dp/B0012JEZJU

This might be an option. It is $41.47, so it's not expensive for what you do get, but it's not cheap if you just want the screw(s).

Thanks everybody for trying to help.

I went to the above sites and none has it. a 3mm 0.5 socket head screw.

The Whiteside, I believe is a 5-40 type.

Do you just need a M3x6 SHCS?
Like: http://www.mcmaster.com/#socket-head-cap-screws/=z5hev9

(http://www.mcmaster.com/#socket-head-cap-screws/=z5hev9)Edited to add: Actually that link takes you to just main page. Choose M3 from first column and then your length from second column.

Any real hardware store. A lot have been driven out by BORGS but they should still be around and called an Industrial Supply, Fastener Supply, XX Bolt Supply, or whatever. I have 10 within 10 miles of me. SoCal Bolt, Tools-R-US, Bill's Industrial Supply, McFadden-Dale, etc.

Or just let Jo at Carbide Processors send you one. Better yet, buy something from them and let them send you the SHCS along with it.

Hi everyone,

That particular screw (M3 0.5 *with flange*) was impossible to find, except for Freud. I could have went into another 20 or so sites that carry industrial supplies, hdwe, fasteners, metric only stuff, purely router bits, screws, Amazon, etc....but out of exasperation I called Freud, and they sent me some no charge.

Bruce Page was kind enough to send one also--thanks Bruce:)

FWIW, most vendors carry down to M4 or only M6. And, not all screws for router bits are the same, except tiny.

Gotta have the flange also

Thanks, David

Sounds like you found what you needed.
For future reference, Fastenal has stores all over the place. https://www.fastenal.com/
They supply manufactures with hardware so stores tend to be located in industrial or office parks vs typical retail locations.
