I will be going to germany in a few weeks, and will be staying with family in the stuttgart area. I remember seeing a thread with pics of an amazing tool store over there, but can't find it, and honestly can't remember if it was here or the FOG. Anyone remember that thread or know of a good store in the area to go drool over some tools? Thanks,
Steve

Not in the Stuttgart area, but i buy a lot from these guys in Berlin: http://www.fine-tools.com They focus on high end woodworking stuff. Probably not all that much there that's not available in the US. Dictum is another, but they are in Munich and near Ingolstadt: https://www.dictum.com/en/about-dictum/shops

On the way from Stuttgart to Munich: http://www.lutzgruppe.de/gprofil.htm
Also the Dictum shop in Munich is good. Can drool over Mafell stuff there.

If you happen to go to Berlin (which I highly recommend): http://www.tooltime24-berlin.de

I thought the prices were reasonable on this web site

https://www.siltec-technik.de/

They do have a e bay web site but the prices may be different to the store web site

Please note I have not purchased from them but there store price for the Tormek t 7 was the cheapest I could find

regards

Brian

Not in Stuttgart, but Dictum is likely the store you've seen.

Very nice store in Munich.

German home-market power tools are all 230 volts 50 Hz, right?

German home-market power tools are all 230 volts 50 Hz, right?Typically 240v. If you're buying a tool with a universal motor it should work fine in the US as long as the voltage is the same.

Best on-line store I've found: http://www.elektrowerkzeug-shop.net

Good time to buy a big ticket item as the exchange rate is still relatively favorable.

By any chance is this the picture you remembered seeing? I know it was in the Stuttgart area not far from Festool, but unfortunately I cannot remember where we were. Maybe someone else will see this and know where we were. I was in a daze from information-overload.

There's a quick and very comfortable roughly 2hr train service from Stuttgart to Munich...

Hand tools should still work in the US. :)
