So I have a few extra hundred to spend. I currently use a passive cooling system. Like the cw3000. I have a 45watt engraving machine. Redsail x700.

Would you buy an active cooling system? Benefits you have seen?

Clark you should spend that extra cash on a glowforge with its closed loop cooling system. no chiller needed. :D

Hmmm. No 😒. I would rather that time machine sold on ebay

Clark, go for a CW4000 (it's not actually a CW but the naming convention is used to keep things easy)

This one is in the UK but I'm sure the same model is available from somebody in the US, it keeps all of my machines at a nice steady 17 - 19 degrees all day on tubes from 150 watts to 240 watts and stable temperatures are the God of laser cutting :)

(I don't work for HPC or have any financial interest in the company or it's sales. Chris Jacobs the MD is a personal friend though in the spirit of full disclosure)

Clark,

Just curious. Are you having cooling problems?
