I cut some small chunks of wood from a big chunk of wood and made a bowl today (after a few wine bottle stoppers).

Here are a few pictures (click on them to see a bigger version):

I cut this piece along the edge, getting a little bit of some lighter sapwood.

Still a little heavy on the bottom, but better than the first bowl.

The color is very nice and I like the design. You probably had a lot of fun turning these. Do you have a design in mind when you start, or do you "go with the flow" and see what comes out as you finish? I'm trying to learn to do hollow forms now, and it's a pleasure to step back and turn simpler bowls and sort of "relax turn" a little. If I need a lot of relaxing after something really trying, I do some pens. Looks like you're off to a great start. Keep the picts coming.

Very nice job, Wayne. I really like the coloration...be sure to turn more from that hunk of wood!
