I made a small puzzle of a dragon and a box to go with it as a present for a friend.

The puzzle was made from 3/4” Red Oak and finished with Danish Oil

The box was made of pine which was resawn and planed to 3/8” and the corners joined with dovetails.

The hinge is a wooden dowel done like Cosman shows in one of his videos. The box was actually a trial for making this type of wooden hinge and requires accurate routing of the groove for the dowel and also very accurate drilling of the ends of the dowels to accept the steel pins. If the holes are not centered on the end of the dowels, the hinges do not fit or work correctly.

The latch is two 3/16” diameter by 3/16” long magnets. After adding the magnets, they held so tightly that I added two small pegs for easier opening of the lid.
