As I understand it, the Festool saw and accessories are kept in a systainer. What about the rail? What does everyone do with that?

I hang my rails on the wall on a nail, except for the 8 footer...which is between the joists up over head.

I built a box to hold them. See the thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=8377

Neat stuff in that thread. Thanks! I didn't come across that one in my search.

I do the same as Jim. I believe there is a case that you can purchase to store and transport the rails.

Yes there is. See http://www.festoolusa.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=8&prodid=466357#

I wanted something that was more protective than a cloth bag and I also wanted to tote related items such a clamps and an angle unit thingy. That's why I built the box.

I'm embarrassed. I usually pride myself on my searching abilities on the Net. I can't believe I didn't scroll down enough on that page this morning. :o

Great looking tote, but I agree ... that can't be much protection. I also would like to keep all related accessories together.

Jim,

I love the Festool bag for the guide rails.

Fits two 1400-2 and one 800-2 .

Show up on the job with that rig, people ask

if I am going hunting.

I built my own drawer system to hold the Systainers and put a holder on the side of one of them to hold 3 guide rails. All the drawers are full extension slides and adjustable up and down.

I think the bag is more some kind of protection for a customer's home you work in. For example, if you take your guide rails upstairs you're less likely to leave scratches on walls if the rails are kept in the bag.
