For those who own the Miter 5000 sled, have you used it for compound cuts (blade tilted)? As I understand it, to maintain zero clearance you need a different right panel for each angle used. Is that correct? Any warnings or advice on using the Miter 5000 in this mode?

My primary application is cutting compound staves for segmented turning work.

Thanks!

D.

Dan, I have the miter 5000. You're correct. You'll need a dedicated right panel for blade angle cuts. The panels are relatively cheap at $35.

I have the Express sled, not the 5000. But I've always figured I could make a right panel for a lot less than $35.If I ever need one. It won't be as pretty as the one they sell, but that's not an issue for me personally.

I wonder if you could do the same with the 5000? Just an idea.
