Hi guys,
I've popped over from the Engravers section of the forum for what I imagine is a pretty basic question...
I am after putting a slot into the top of a picture frame, similar to what you can see on this image: http://www.englishrosestationery.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/SAM_0098.jpg

Is the best best way just to use a router or is there a better way of doing it?

I'd use my biscuit joiner for that - - mainly because I have one.
Otherwise, I'd use the router in the router table & a slot cutting bit.

How deep is that slot?

What is the purpose of the slot?

I wanted a slot in the top of a picture frame so I positioned it on my tablesaw and clamped it in place, then turned on the saw and cranked the blade up into the wood.

I would use the router table but, am curious as to purpose.
