Does anyone know where i can purchase a straight edge router base for my Porter Cable plunge router? I have seen Norm use this type of base on his plunge router and I would like to have one as well.

I think this is the one that Norm used a lot.

That's the one! I have it for my PC 690, but haven't put it to use yet.

But I think the OP is looking for a base plate with a straight side, and not the guide fence?

That's correct.

That would work but I'm looking for the base that has the straight edge on it already. I will purchase the one you linked as a last resort. Thank you for your help.

Dimitrios, you didn't say which PC plunge router you have - they make more than one. The base I linked to is for the PC Trim Router. I was just trying to understand what you mean by "straight edge router base" More description or a picture would be helpful.

Sorry about that I have the porter cable 7529 router.

I needed a large base with straight sides so I made my own out of some clear plexiglass.
Its quite easy to do.

I have a drawer full of special bases for my two PC690s. A few are plexiglass, most are wood. Often I use an interesting looking scrap. It is very easy. Somehow it feels better to me to use a wooden base plate. If you have to have the hole in exactly the center maybe it is worth buying a base. But for simple edge routing, accuracy is not so terribly important and I would just make one. A piece of luan plywood or fiberboard would work fine. If you plan to use it a lot and want something nicer, use a hardwood scrap.

According to the diagrams and pictures I've seen, the 7529 has a straightedge incorporated in the sub base as standard equipment. If you're looking for a replacement sub base, it might be a stretch as ServiceNet won't even give out a part number in its parts list. If it is like its successor the 8529, the part number would be 907339 but that's listed as obsolete as well. So you might have to make one up yourself or go with some aftermarket solution.

Pat Warner makes some GREAT sub bases. I'll bet he has what you are looking for.
