Going to be in the San Jose and San Francisco area this week and looking for some suggestions on where to buy some good turning blanks of wood that is unique to CA and other parts of the west coast. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

You might like Global Wood Source, in San Jose. Despite the "Global" in the name, they have lots of local hardwood too. http://www.globalwoodsource.com/

Well, if you were going to be in Oregon, I could help you. Really smokey here right now.

You don't say how mobile you will be, but if you can get further south you might want to check out Jackel Enterprises (http://jackelenterprises.com/about.html) in Watsonville. I haven't made the trip (yet) but they were very highly recommended by a wood turning instructor. They have a division West Coast Woods (http://westcoastwoods.com/lumber.html) that specializes in local woods.
