Been building a tower crane as of late that will be part of a much larger project and wanting to know if anyone has experience with radio or remote control type stuff. I can fake it through the metal work but not sure how I'm going to attack the electric motors and such.

At present the dimension are fairly flexible. The height is probably going to be around 4' and the reach will be around 4 1/2'

Any suggestions for food for thought.

One thing I know is I need very smooth low rpm motors to drive the slewing mechanism and winches, in the 10rpm range, not too complicated either. Anyone got any suggestions

I also need to figure out how to design and produce a central consul to operate this thing. Joys sticks or dials. Does any one have some in put they can impart to me

Thx

Googled heaps but very little meaningful information is coming out of the searches - especially regarding electronics. Probably looking for something a bit more robust than lego motors and such though

The advantage is someone has already worked out the electronic side and the motors must be fairly large to move the above crane which you can download instructions for.
