Anybody know of a good local source for a really nice piece of white oak 8/4 X 12" X 6'? I'm working on a small project for Wesleyan University wherein I need to replicate and replace a threshold in the Library of the Americas (which is in a Federal Style building built in the 1800's).

Try CWG in Enfield CWG Hardwood Outlet (http://www.cwghardwoodoutlet.com/) or Harris Enterprises in Manchester Harris Woodworking (http://www.harrisent.com/) .

I have to echo Rob's reference of Connecticut Wood Group. I have always found them easy to deal with, decent prices, and they usually have a large selection.

Todd,

There's a sawmill not to far from you in Burlington that my have what you need. I have passed by them and have not purchased anything from them.
Take Rte 4 east from Lewis Mills to Rte 69 take right after Dunkin donuts and they are about 1 mile on the right.
