Is there a way to use a horizontal belt sander to thickness strips of wood to maybe 1/8" thick, for bent laminating?

If I had unlimited funds and space I'd get a 15" wide belt sander for this, but I don't. Is there a jig to be able to do this on the horizontal belt sander? Or is this a non-starter?

You may figure out a jig, but I have spent a lot of fingerprints trying to do it by hand. It's that magic moment when the wood becomes thin enough to slip under the stop and your fingerprints hit the sanding belt hard.

Got a spindle sander or a drill press and some sanding drums? Google "spindle sander thickness jig". Lots of stuff there.
