Hello woodworkers. I recently purchased a new GI 17" DRILL PRESS. I checked the reviews and most gave the unit 4-5 stars. Everyone commented on the changing speeds function being poorly engineered. Other than that, performamce, fit, finish was excellent. I agree. I went to change speeds this AM and could not seem to get the belt to the next lower level on the motor pulley (from the idle pulley). I followed the instructions very carefully and moved the entire motor assembly back enabling the release of the current belt level rather easily. Am I missing something. Are new belts in particular, difficut to stretch to different pully level, either up or down? Anyone out there have a GI 75-260 they can give me guidance on what I am missing?? Thx in advance.:(

Are you moving the belt to the idler pulley first?

Can you slide the belt to the smallest or off of any idler pulley levels, and then get it to fit on the motor pulley?
