View Full Version : My First "Old Iron"

I picked this up this morning at a local auction for $22. I plan to use it on my yet-to-be-built workbench. It's a 10-incher and it weighs in at 39 pounds. I will put a new wooden handle on it. I'm not sure what the significance of this is, but on the front it reads:

Patented Oct. 30, 1894 Nov. 1, 1898
W.C. Toles Co. Chicago U.S.A.
No. 60

Nice buy! That's a decent looking vice and will be very nice to have on your bench.

Nice old iron vise Johnny but you should start a new thread and upload the pictures directly to SMC for posterity. Note that the original pics in this 2005 thread are still with us. It's unlikely that your Flicker pics will be around in 11 years.
