Any feedback on which is better for 1/2" or 5/8" drywall? Does it really matter? I want to hang some pegboard and 8" wide shelves with those 6" x 8" wall brackets.

Thanks

best fasteners to hang things on drywall...
google this and you will find all your answers with weight answers.
20 years ago when I first started using the Internet I asked a question and the answers were so stupid I never asked again and started using search engines to go to the answer.

I like toggle bolts. They seem to be more trouble; but I trust them more.

Google zip toggle anchors. You can get them at the big box stores, and they are far superior to regular toggles.

Neither, for peg board run furring horizontally and screw or nail furring to the studs. For shelving again I prefer fastening to studs, the thought of shelves levering against drywall leaves me a bit nervous.
