The work of Michael Hosaluk.

I photographed these two pieces for Mike the other day and thought some might find them interesting !

wow - all we need to do is turn out pieces kinda thin, then pierce and texture the heck out of it - no need to worry about tool marks or sanding! LOL

excellent work from Michael. I enjoy his out of the box thinking.

Yeah, my first thought was that I normally aim for a better finish than that with the 80 grit :p

Man, what a couple of beautiful pieces! I have a lot of respect for the level of patience it takes to complete stuff like this. Not to mention the skills to photograph it well!

The carving work on that has to be 10 times the work of turning the piece....and way beyond anything I hope to aspire to as far as skill goes. Amazing. I'm not usually fond of 'pure art' forms, but the technical skill in this one and the styling definitely hits me in the right spots.

Very nice work. It looks like he did more than just turn, carve, and pierce the wood. It appears he sand blasted it, too.
