Fast Knocking sound on the band saw.
Blade looks and cuts straight.
Grizzly GO513X2.

I assume this is the bearings on the upper wheel. Does that sound right?

Why the upper wheel in particular? Why not the lower wheel?

Brian,

One thing you might try is (1) remove the blade, turn it on and see if the sound goes away. This would eliminate the upper wheel. If the sound is still there, go to step #2.

(2)If the sound is still there, then remove the drive belt, turn it on and see if the sound goes away. If the sound continues to be present, the problem is likely something dealing with the motor. If the sound goes away after step #2, I'd suspect the lower wheel.

Good luck!

If this is belt drive, check to be sure the pulleys are tight, and/or the sets crews that clamp them and the key ways in the spindle slots.

Is it a new blade? Sometimes they'll knock if the weld is a little off. Try backing off the guides and see if it goes away.

My first guesses in order ;-)

1. bad blade weld passing the guides (speed of the knocking interval may eliminate this).
2. memory "bump" in the belt.
3. pulleys no coplaner, loose, etc.

Bearing press-fit into the lower or upper wheel isn't snug.
