I made these up over the past couple nights. Mostly maple, with bands of purpleheart and walnut, and cherry on the larger one. The smaller one is about 8-1/2 x 11-1/2 while the larger is roughly 12x19. The finish is mineral oil as suggested by many people here.

Nice job. Matt. They make a nice set, and both are good, usable sizes. My only warning is to not let too many friends see them, or else you'll be so busy making cutting boards for them you won't have time for any other woodworking. DAMHIKT ;)

Nice substantial looking cutting boards. I like cutting boards and yours remind me it has been a while since I have made any and they make great Christmas gifts....It has been a while since I have given any as gifts. ;)

They are roughly 1-1/4 to 1-1/2" thick. I started with the stock at 1-1/2" and ran them through the planer until they were flat on both sides, then my drum sander to get rid of any tearout.

The smaller one is going to my dad, the larger to my wife. I'm sure I'll be making more as the rest of the family sees them. I'm thinking they'll make good gifts for Christmas this year.
