Anyone have an easy sure fire way to remove latex indoor/outdoor carpet glue from concrete stairs? It doesn't scrape worth a 'pooh' and grinding with a disk grinder just heats it up and smears it around. Any luck with a particular kind of chemical stripper?

I know you mentioned that you tried to scrape it, but I just wanted to pass on my recent experiance. When I was preping our dining room floor for the wood floor we recently installed, I used a floor scraper that I think is marketed to be used to remove vinyl tile. It uses a very sharp blade (borderline razor). You do need to find the right angle to get the adhesive off, but once I started I had nice long ribbons of old glue. One note, I don't know what type of glue was used, but it seemed pretty flexible for being probably around 20 years old.

Anyway, that's what worked for me.

Try using denatured alcohol or lacquer thinner either one should work. Should be able to get them at a big box store.
